- Fabrication: the invention of research data or information.
- Falsification: the manipulation of research data or information, including the manipulation of images, chromatograms, and bioactivity results.
- Plagiarism: appropriating part or all of another person's work without proper attribution; rewriting another person's work without using one's own language even where the source is cited; and reusing one's own previously published work or ideas without proper citation (self-plagiarism).
- Improper authorship: listing a person who made no contribution, omitting a person who did contribute, or commissioning another person to produce work claimed as one's own.
- Undisclosed competing interests: that bear upon the content of the article.
- Duplicate submission: submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal.
- Breach of research ethics: research involving humans, animals, or biological material conducted without valid ethical approval.
Procedure
- Preliminary examination of evidence by the Editor-in-Chief, within 14 calendar days of receiving a report or identifying a concern.
- Request for clarification addressed in writing to the authors concerned, with 14 calendar days allowed for a response.
- Investigation by a panel convened by the Editor-in-Chief, involving the authors' institutions and independent experts where necessary.
- Documented decision, communicated in writing to all parties concerned.
- Corrective action: a correction, erratum, or corrigendum where the error does not render the principal findings or conclusions unreliable; a retraction where a breach of integrity or a serious error renders the data, findings, or conclusions unreliable; or withdrawal where the manuscript has not yet been formally published.
These procedures follow the COPE Flowcharts and are carried out transparently and with full documentation.
Retracted articles are not removed from the journal website or archive; they are clearly marked as retracted on the article page, in the full-text document, and in the article metadata, and the DOI record is updated accordingly.
Allegations may be submitted to eureka.herba.indonesia@gmail.com and are handled in confidence.
Those who raise concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation.
