From submission to publication
A transparent, double-blind editorial process that begins by email and continues through OJS after the manuscript passes initial assessment.
Editorial and publication pathway
Email submission
The author emails the manuscript prepared with the correct EHI template and all required declarations and supporting files.
Editorial assessment
1–3 days. Editors evaluate aims-and-scope fit, originality and similarity. Similarity assessment is supported by ORCA. Unsuitable manuscripts may be declined at this stage.
OJS account and tracking
For a manuscript that passes assessment, the editorial office creates the author’s OJS account, registers the manuscript, and sends login information. Subsequent progress can be monitored in OJS.
Double-blind peer review
Approximately 2–4 weeks. Three independent reviewers assess the manuscript’s scholarly substance, methodology, validity and contribution.
Editorial decision
After consolidating three reports, the editor decides: accept, minor revision, major revision, or decline. The decision and actionable comments are communicated through OJS.
Author revision
Approximately 1–2 weeks. When revision is requested, the author submits a revised manuscript and a point-by-point response to reviewer and editor comments.
Re-evaluation and acceptance
Reviewers and the editor reassess the revision. If the response and manuscript are satisfactory, the journal issues a Letter of Acceptance; further revision may be requested when needed.
Copyediting and proofreading
Approximately 1 week. Language and presentation are refined with editorial oversight and support from EIGO. The edited manuscript is returned to the author for approval.
Galley proof and production
The author performs the final check of the galley proof. Once approved, the article enters production and is prepared for publication under EHI’s current editorial and licensing policies.
